"You do you."
I’m excited to announce that I will be joining forces to teach with Bend Beer Yoga! Now now... before you go get all Judge Judy on me, as a yoga teacher #RYT I would like to share my experience of #BendBeerYoga So when I first heard about @bendbeeryoga I was definitely skeptical and wondered how can you do yoga and drink beer?.... Isn’t that defeating the purpose? (Even though I drink beer post yoga all the time🤔 anyhoo... I decided to go check it out to give a fair assessment at @10barrelbrewing Upon arrival I felt a great vibe of people who seemed generally joyous and maybe a little anxious to see what this shindig was all about! I showed up with my girlfriend who was interested in yoga but had yet to take a class. Right off the bat something positive was to be said by this exposure of yoga to individuals who just need a little push to start the journey! So everyone got our beers, ciders, wine, water or drink of choice and we started. We did some basic yoga postures with our glasses, tried some balance moves, we gave cheers to our neighbors, we all looked silly, laughed a lot, had photo ops and a great time. People got out of their comfort zones only to get comfortable in the fact that maybe yoga isn’t what we expect. It doesn’t have to be performed in a perfect ashram setting with zen music, nag champa and matching LuLuLemon workout attire (although we did look fly in @zialife) I thought it was truly beautiful to see people trying new things and connecting in the community. Although alcohol can have devastating effects on people’s lives, when used in moderation or for celebration in support of local businesses it can be very positive. In addition many local jobs and families rely on these businesses. Now with über and Lyft we can get home safely or simply enjoy a couple beers during yoga and grab some post yoga food at the hosting location. So if you are a Yoga Newbie or Never Beforbie or a Yoga Master I think Bend Beer Yoga is a place for you! So I guess when it comes down to it my point is that in our yoga practices, Judgment a form of Ego can be equally toxic in the body and perhaps even more so than beer or alcohol. #YouDoYou !
